Job Description
As an Electromechanical Engineering Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine investigations and tests on transmission line components. Your work will adhere to established technical work instructions, industry standards, and client procedures. You will conduct routine mechanical and electrical tests, investigations, and technical studies across various disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, non-destructive evaluation, and material science. You will also assemble test setups with data acquisition systems, participate in the analysis of test results using standard software packages, prepare reports, and ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices. Additionally, you will manage shipping, receiving, calibration, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with installation of laboratory equipment and test fixtures.
+ Conduct high current lab tests on safety equipment and electrical apparatus such as switches, breakers, and transformers.
+ Perform routine electrical tests, investigations, and technical studies across multiple disciplines.
+ Prepare samples for testing, including tasks like installing compression connectors and epoxy resin terminations.
+ Apply mechanical and electrical knowledge to support testing projects, ensuring safe and efficient setups.
+ Install and repair equipment, instrumentation, and test fixtures as needed.
+ Maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and organization of test laboratories and associated facilities.
+ Handle administrative tasks such as document processing and maintaining records and filing systems.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in transmission line, lab testing, and test equipment.
+ Experience with electro-mechanical lab tests and sample preparations.
+ Data analysis and field data acquisition.
+ Familiarity with testing validation, testing software, fiber optic, vibration analysis, tensile testing, and strength analysis.
+ Knowledge of electrical mechanical work instructions, LabView, transmission, and thermal testing.
+ Understanding of electrical circuits, mechanical electrical schematics, and mechanical theory.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical (or Mechatronics) Technology, or equivalent level of education and work experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
+ Experience with hands-on work with equipment and various power tools.
+ Familiarity with data acquisition systems, preferably LabView-based.
+ Ability to move, lift, and rearrange heavy items up to 50 lbs.
+ Willingness to travel up to 70% as needed.
Work Environment
You will work in a brand-new 30,000 sq/ft lab located in Louisville, KY, which is temperature controlled. You can choose between a 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts or a standard 5-day work week with 8-hour shifts. The facility includes a line view robot testing area, a thermomechanical testing lab area, and a current cycle testing lab. Additionally, the ArcWear division in the same building provides a textile testing lab for firefighter uniforms, featuring drop tests, cutting, fire, and stress testing areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
