    The Director of Pregnancy & Newborn Services for the UW Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) provides strategic and operational leadership for perinatal and neonatal care across UnityPoint Health – Meriter and UW Health. This position reports to the UnityPoint Health-Madison Market Chief Nursing Officer and partners with the UW Health System Vice President Pediatric Services and President of American Family Children’s Hospital. This role serves as a key liaison among administrative leaders, clinical teams, and providers across the system of care.

     

    The Director leads programmatic growth for Wisconsin’s largest birthing hospital, partnering in a triad with neonatal and obstetric medical directors to develop strategic plans, quality measures, and protocols for safe care. They also drive regional referral strategies for advanced perinatal and neonatal services.

     

    Additional responsibilities include leadership for the Center for Perinatal Care clinic, UW Health Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Family Health Education department, and Staying Healthy After Childbirth (STAC) hypertension telehealth program, Outreach Education Department and oversight of perinatal community outreach education. The Director collaborates closely with the UPH-Meriter Director of Perinatal Services and UW Health Kids leadership, with the focus on neonatal care to ensure quality, safety, and exceptional patient care experiences across the system of care.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare related field from an accredited college or university

    + Graduate degree from an accredited college of university in healthcare or hospital administration, nursing administration, business administration or related discipline

    Experience:

    + 5-7 years progressive leadership in Women’s Health or Maternal Child Health

    Other:

    + Extensive knowledge of contemporary healthcare administration, practices, and principles

    + Ability to apply advanced analytical, quantitative, and qualitative techniques to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights

    + Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and strategic direction

    + Strong organizational, planning, scheduling, and project management expertise

    + Committed to patient- and family-centered care, service excellence, and continuous improvement

    + Track record of building positive, collaborative relationships with providers and healthcare administrators

    + Use of usual and customary equipment used to prefer essentials functions of the position
