    COUNTYWIDE PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY

    OPEN TO CURRENT, REGULAR COUNTY OF NEVADA EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE COMPLETED TWELVE MONTHS OF SATISFACTORY, PROBATIONARY SERVICE

     

    Through the services of its departments, Nevada County's Health & Human Services Agency develops and implements programs that fulfill the County’s commitment to provide support to our residents. We are pleased to be recruiting to fill several positions for Behavioral Health Therapists in a variety of capacities.

     

    Examples of Duties

    THE POSITION

    Our Behavioral Health Therapists provide the following support to community members:

    + Assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, collateral/parent counseling

    + Crisis intervention, case management, and documentation of services

    + Screening potential clients on the phone

    + Psychotherapy

     

    Services are provided in consultation with the clinical team and regional partners and outside agencies. Individuals who show patience, understanding, and caring in their dealings with others are highly valued. Other relevant personal traits include social skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage time effectively. The work is always interesting and provides opportunities for collaborative, creative problem solving. We seek to hire individuals who are not only caring but also bring a sense of humor and fun at the right time.

    Knowledge and Skills Required

    A Master's degree from an accredited college or university, or from a school, college, or university that is approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or meeting the educational requirement of 48 semester/trimester or 72 quarter units of master's level coursework to accrue hours for Supervised Professional Experience (SPE), per the Board of Psychology. In addition to the above, completion of supervised clinical experience sufficient to qualify for licensure.

     

    Licenses and Certificates

     

    All levels: Possession of a valid California driver's license within 30 days of hire.

     

    Behavioral Health Therapist I and Behavioral Health Therapist II: Registration as an intern for licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners or meeting requirement as defined by the Board of Psychology to accrue hours of Supervised Professional Experience (SPE), or licensed in another State.

    Retirement

     

    The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
