/*Massachusetts Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission*/ /*Job Posting*/ *Job Title:** **Intake Coordinator* *Reports to:** **Director, Division of Police Standards* *_AGENCY OVERVIEW_* The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission is an independent agency that oversees law enforcement departments and officers throughout the Commonwealth. The Commission is charged with the following: * Establishing certification standards for law enforcement departments and officers; * Determining whether those standards have been met; * Developing regulations and policies governing law enforcement; * Decertifying, suspending, ordering retraining for, or imposing other sanctions on officers who commit misconduct or otherwise fail to satisfy requirements; * Maintaining, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding law enforcement; and * Conducting investigations, adjudicatory proceedings, and public hearings regarding such matters. The Commission is governed by, implements, and enforces, Chapter 6E of the Massachusetts General Laws. Pursuant to that statute, the Commission collaborates with the Commonwealth’s Municipal Police Training Committee in several areas of its work. The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the growing team of the Division of Police Standards (“Division”) as an Intake Coordinator. The Division advances the Commission’s purpose by diligently investigating allegations of officer misconduct, and advocating for disciplinary outcomes that are fair, consistent, and engender the trust of both the public-at-large and the members of the law enforcement profession. The Intake Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting these efforts. *Please note that pursuant to state law, no employee of the Division of Police Standards shall have previously been employed as a law enforcement officer, previously employed by a law enforcement agency or be a retired law enforcement officer or retired from a law enforcement agency. This provision does not apply to former federal law enforcement officers or former law enforcement officers from jurisdictions outside of Massachusetts.** *** *_ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES_* The Intake Coordinator will work as part of the Division team, and will be responsible for a wide range of duties. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: 1. Accepting complaints and related documents filed with the Commission by members of the general public via the Commission's website, telephone, email, in writing, and/or in person. 2. Conducting an initial review and triage of newly-filed complaints; and related documents. 3. Communicating with complainants in a manner that is professional, thus engendering the trust of the complainant and the public-at-large that allegations of officer misconduct are taken seriously by the Commission. 4. Drafting and sending updates to complainants regarding the status and/or disposition of their complaints. 5. Communicating and working directly with assigned with law enforcement agencies to ensure that agencies submit all required disciplinary records to the Commission; that agencies submit such records in a timely manner; and that such records conform to the requirements of the Commission's enabling statue (Chapter 6E of the General Laws), and the Commission's regulations, guidance, and policies. 6. Reviewing and analyzing disciplinary records submitted to the Division, including complaints filed by or with an agency, investigative reports, the contents of an agency's investigative file, and other like matters. 7. Performing assigned tasks, including data entry and data integrity review, in support of the Commission's public disciplinary records database. 8. Conducting searches of the Commission's internal databases and other systems for information upon request. 9. Assisting with tasks in furtherance of the Division's obligations under the Massachusetts Public Records Law. 10. Performing other duties, as assigned. *_RESIDENCY AND WORK LOCATION_* *__* The Intake Coordinator will be required to reside within 50 miles of the Commission’s Boston office while employed by the Commission. The individual will also be required to report to the Commission’s Boston office in accordance with supervisors’ instructions. Currently, Commission employees must report to the office at least two days per week and as otherwise directed. *_INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING_* Interested individuals should apply for the position through_MassCareers_.
