**Job Title:** IT Field Service Technician
**Location:** Harrisburg, PA
**Pay Rate:** $22–$24/hour
**Type:** Contract-to-Hire / Full-Time
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Field Service Technician to provide onsite technical support for our national home-improvement retail client. This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service experience, and the ability to manage daily tasks independently while traveling between client locations.
Responsibilities
+ Provide onsite IT support including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of PCs, printers, POS systems, thin clients, network devices, and related hardware.
+ Travel within a designated daily route (25–100+ miles depending on schedule and area).
+ Perform triage, diagnostics, and break/fix support for client-facing IT equipment.
+ Install, configure, and support Windows OS, macOS, Linux, and various enterprise applications.
+ Understand AC/DC and backup power concepts for device support.
+ Complete cabling tasks including copper and fiber terminations as needed.
+ Document work performed, update ticketing systems, and close cases promptly.
+ Communicate effectively with store leadership, internal teams, and support staff.
+ Occasionally work at heights of 20–25 feet (lift training provided).
+ Maintain strong organization and time management to complete assignments on schedule.
+ Provide outstanding customer service that strengthens client relationships.
Qualifications
+ Minimum 1 year of IT support or field service experience.
+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (daily travel required).
+ Strong understanding of troubleshooting methodologies for hardware, software, and network issues.
+ Experience with POS, printers, thin clients, servers, and network switches is a plus.
+ Familiarity with Windows OS; experience with macOS or Linux preferred.
+ CompTIA A+ certification preferred (not required).
+ Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
+ Strong communication, documentation, and customer-service skills.
Preferred Skills
+ Experience with copper and/or fiber cabling.
+ Knowledge of basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
+ Emotional intelligence for explaining technical concepts at the user's level of understanding.
+ Exposure to ticketing systems and remote support tools.
