• Research Technologist - #Staff

    We are seeking a _Research Technologist_ who will perform laboratory tasks and completes routine assays following common or established protocols and procedures.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Perform research laboratory experiments by following common protocols independently or with instructions.

    + Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques, methods and assays used in the lab, with an emphasis on those directly relevant to assigned projects.

    + Design, set-up and execute experiments, including appropriate controls.

    + Collect measurements, analyze data and store data following established laboratory procedures.

    + Maintain a laboratory notebook following established laboratory policies.

    + Identify and resolve common problems involved in routine assays.

    + Apply problem-solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research, and experience.

    + Increase skill and knowledge base of assays, research conducted in the lab and relevant background material.

    + Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques and procedures.

    + Test, clean, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.

    + Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitor inventory of supplies, autoclaving, preparing solutions and other routine duties, as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Some related undergraduate or post-undergraduate laboratory work experience in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and/or microscopy.

    + Experience in computational biology and code-based analysis platforms.

    Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($36,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
