    Overview

     

    As a Backup Lead Press Operator, you’ll step in to lead press operations when the Press Lead or Press Lead Backup is unavailable. You’ll oversee press setup, monitor print quality, and keep production running smoothly. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety and security. This role is based onsite at our Lakeland, Florida facility and works a standard 12-hour shift schedule.

     

    What You’ll Do

     

    You’ll review job sheets and ensure presses are set up correctly, selecting Anilox rolls, print sleeves, and stock. You’ll prepare inks, monitor press performance, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards. Acting as the go-to resource for troubleshooting, you’ll support the press team and escalate issues when needed. You’ll also track production data, manage ink usage, and ensure proper registration and color consistency. When required, you’ll load and unload sleeves and rolls, operate the unwinder, and keep the workflow moving efficiently.

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + 5+ years of mechanical, manufacturing, or printing experience, ideally with flexographic presses

    + Ability to follow detailed processes and procedures

    + Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and support a production team

    Preferred Experience

    If you’ve worked in a lead or supervisory role and have advanced troubleshooting skills for press equipment, that’s a plus.

    Physical Requirements

    + Stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift

    + Lift up to 75 lbs occasionally

    + Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, push, pull, and twist as needed

    + Work safely around noise, heat, inks, paper dust, and moving equipment

    At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range for this role is $28.00 per hour. The actual pay offered may be higher or lower. The Company complies with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

     

    Base pay is one part of our Total Rewards program. Non-exempt roles are eligible for irregular discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.
