The BAE Systems site in York, Pennsylvania is seeking aSafety Health & Environmental (SHE) Specialistto support Weekend production work. The SHE Specialist, reporting to the York Site Safety Manager will support, promote, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by coordinating safe performance of tasks associated with the plant mission by constantly interfacing with supervision and plant personnel on safe work practices, exposure identification and elimination. The SHE Specialist serves as the lead SHE Department resource on weekends. The assigned shift will be from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Included duties as the SHE Specialist:
+ Providing hands on SHE support at the site, including evaluating risk, responding to and addressing SHE concerns, and supporting leadership with continuous improvement activities
+ Attending meetings and conducting safety contacts with employees to better understand their issues and concerns.
+ Identifying hazardous workplace conditions, through routine risk assessments of work processes and equipment, including inspection of machinery and equipment to ensure safety and health compliance.
+ Investigating, preparing, and forwarding reports on safety health and environmental related incidents and near misses and other incidents as required. Performing a team approach to Root Cause Analysis, utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures.
+ Reviewing plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met.
+ Providing initial response to work related injuries, including providing first-aid and coordinating care with local providers and emergency departments, and documenting actions taken.
+ Responding to and serving as incident commander for emergency response incidents including chemical spills.
+ Conducting industrial hygiene sampling, and performing other evaluations of occupational health stressors, including ergonomic stressors, and making recommendations for improvements.
+ Monitor contractor adherence to safety health and environmental performance standards.
+ Issuing safety related work permits for hot work, silica exposure, confined space entry, etc.
+ Providing support and coaching to leadership that promotes safe behaviors and an overall positive culture.
+ Conducting training and coaching for employees and managers on safety, health, and environmental topics.
+ Removing hazards and/or protecting employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Participating in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or other regulatory inspections and in any procedures that may follow a notice of violation.
+ Monitoring, training, and reporting on compliance issues pertaining to federal, state, local and corporate safety, health, and environmental regulations.
+ Assisting with maintaining safety health and environmental metrics.
+ Provide support and coaching to leadership that promotes safe behaviors and an overall positive culture
+ Floor time 40% or greater
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or related discipline and two (2) years of Safety & Health work experience, or the overall equivalent;
+ Experience working within a manufacturing environment;
+ Highly effective communication skills, written and verbal;
+ Ability to coach, mentor, and guide others, particularly on a team, in related SHE best practices;
+ Possess basic knowledge of Environmental and Safety Management System (ISO14001 & ISO45001);
+ Computer skills to work proficiently in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related industry software applications;
+ Must be able to work all weekends from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Master s Degree in related field;
+ Certification as an ASP, CSP, or CIH;
+ Experience in Safety and Health programs supporting heavy manufacturing.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $72150 - $122655
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
