    BAE Systems, in support of its Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business, is hiring for a Senior Software Quality Engineer. As a senior level Software Quality Engineer, you will embed into our development team working on challenging projects and collaborating with talented professionals. As part of the Systems and Software Quality Assurance (SSQA) group, you'll be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of BAE Systems CMS products and processes. You'll play a critical role in the development life-cycle by identifying and preventing compliance issues against established requirements and Department of Defense (DoD) standards. As a SSQA engineer, you'll utilize your knowledge, background, and experience in supporting quality responsibilities within a software development environment. Travel will be required to support testing and design reviews at sites in the area.

     

    Note: This position is on the, "Hybrid 3-2-1" work schedule supported within a reasonable commute to Sterling Heights, Michigan.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree and 4 years of related experience (software quality assurance, engineering, or management information systems experience) or the overall equivalent;

    + Experience working with quality assurance principles and practices and software development methodologies;

    + Experience working with software test tools and methodology;

    + Ability to handle multiple project and task responsibilities and switch among them quickly to meet business priorities;

    + Ability to work independently and work in a team environment, even when remote support is required;

    + Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills;

    + Proven problem solving and analytical skills;

    + Keen attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformances;

    + Ability to deal with and manage change;

    + Able to complete assigned responsibilities in each timeframe within a given budget;

    + Good organization and time management skills;

    + Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices of systems and software engineering;

    + Able to support on a Hybrid schedule which would include on-site support in Sterling Heights and/or travel.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Experience working with standard software development methodology assessments, such as SEI/CMMI;

    + Possess quality engineering certifications such as Six Sigma Lean, ISO 9001, ASQ, etc.;

    + Experience working with quality metrics and software industry metric data collection and analysis techniques;

    + Working knowledge of National Instruments TestStand;

    + Working knowledge of Atlassian s platform (e.g. Jira, Bitbucket, and Crucible);

    + Experience working with project management methodology;

    + Experience with various testing types (e.g. example functional performance regression integration);

    + Knowledge of quality assurance standards and best practices (e.g. Defense and Aerospace industry experience, IEEE 12207);

    + Software development experience (e.g, C );

    + Ability and working knowledge of Apache Subversion;

    + Ability to develop test assets (e.g. test plans, test designs, test cases, discrepancy reports, etc.);

    + Proficiency in test automation tools and scripting languages;

    + ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer is a plus.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
