UW Recreation has an outstanding opportunity for a Custodian to join their team
SUMMARY:
The custodian performs a variety of custodial tasks to maintain clean, sanitary, and safe conditions in and around UW Recreation facilities. This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor. **The typical shift for this position is Friday-Tuesday 9:30pm-6am.**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following represents a variety of the responsibilities assigned to the person in this position. The examples represent typical work but are not intended to be inclusive of all duties required for this position.
+ Use andmaintainhand tools and power equipment such as brooms, mops, squeegees, vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor machines, power washers, and other toolsrequiredfor the cleaning and general maintenance of the UW Recreation facilities.
+ Utilize department computers/cellphonefor online training, reporting facility issues, and relaying information.
+ Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, drying areas, and the fixtures located in these areas.
+ Empty wastebaskets and trash containers andassistwith the campus-wide recycling and composting program.
+ Sweep, dry and wet mop, scrub, and condition vinyl floor, terrazzo, ceramic floor tiles, hardwood floors, and other floor surfaces. Vacuum andshampoo carpetsand furniture.
+ Replace toilet paper, paper towels,soap,andotherrestroom supplies as needed.
+ Clean walls, windows,doors,mirrors, vents, display cases, etc.
+ Set-up and remove furniture and sports equipment forspecial events.
+ Perform custodial maintenance of office areas,kitchenette, stairwells,pool, locker rooms,and variousactivity areas.
+ Read and follow instructions and labelsregardingchemicals,cleanersand supplies, including Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information, and the proper use of personal protective equipment(PPE).
+ Maintain building security when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and unauthorized occupants.
+ Work cooperatively with other members of the UW Recreation staff in the interest of providing a comprehensive program of activities designed to meet the needs and interest of the University community.Attendstaff meetings andrequiredtrainingsas needed.
+ Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within one year of employment.
+ Perform related duties asrequired, including weekly, monthly, or annual custodial projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:
+ Physical ability to do the required work
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ One year of experience as a Custodian or housekeeper. _Equivalent experience may substitute._
+ Ability to work in an environment occupied by patrons and independently make critical decisions on workflow, whileaccomplishingdaily scheduled tasks with flexibility. Provide clear and concise communication with patrons or Operations staff.
+ Ability to communicate using basic English skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
+ Basic computer skills and the ability to use technology for email and online systems (i.e.Workday/MaintenanceCare/Teams/Training Modules).
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$45,288.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$49,740.00 annual
