    Summary The National Gallery of Art welcomes all people to explore art, creativity, and our shared humanity. Responsibilities The Head of Gallery and Studio Learning will: Supervise and align K-12 student and teacher programs, school partnerships, volunteer docent core and docent-led programs, and pre-professional programs including internships and teen programs. Serve as a collaborative leader in efforts to conceptualize, innovate and develop programs informed by the needs and interests of diverse audiences. Strengthen the reach and impact of the permanent collection and special exhibitions through a variety of activities and initiatives. Lead local school partnership efforts and seek education and community partnerships within and outside the institution. Oversee program development, staff training and development and performance evaluation. Develop and supervise staff and volunteers, including program managers, coordinators, education assistants and docents. Ensure that plans are carried out and established programs are maintained in effective operation, and new, strategic initiatives are incorporated to fulfill audience learning and engagement goals. Promote a work environment where staff feel valued and connected to the mission and the role of gallery and studio learning in achieving that mission. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, administering museum education and learning programs.
