    Summary/Objective

    The Lead Construction Superintendent is responsible for providing overall field leadership for large, complex, and/or multi-phase construction projects. This role oversees all on-site operations to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards. As a senior field leader, the Lead Superintendent mentors field staff, drives scheduling and logistics strategies, and serves as the primary field representative of Speedwell Construction. This position requires a leader who leads by example and consistently upholds Speedwell's core values of diligence, respect, humility, and a sense of urgency.

    Essential Functions

    + Provide overall field leadership for large-scale, complex, or multi-phase, multi-story, and multi-building construction projects, including oversight of multiple Superintendents and concurrent projects

    + Develop, maintain, and actively manage the master construction schedule, including phasing plans, look-ahead schedules, and recovery strategies

    + Coordinate and direct the daily activities of 20+ subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to maintain progress on the critical path

    + Ensure subcontractors fully understand and comply with their contract scope, schedule requirements, and quality expectations; proactively address deficiencies

    + Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, and site logistics planning sessions to align all teams on execution strategy

    + Perform ongoing quality control inspections to ensure work conforms to contract documents, design intent, and company standards

    + Proactively identify constructability issues, field conflicts, and potential risks, and lead resolution efforts in collaboration with the project team

    + Serve as the primary field interface with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and municipal authorities

    + Collaborate with Project Managers on RFIs, submittals, sequencing, and material procurement to support efficient field operations

    + Maintain accurate and timely daily reports using company reporting software to document progress, manpower, weather, site conditions, and delays

    + Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local township codes, inspection requirements, permitting conditions, and contract obligations

    + Establish and maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site that reflects Speedwell Construction standards

    + Lead and mentor Assistant Superintendents and Superintendents, promoting consistent field practices and professional development

    + Champion jobsite safety culture by enforcing OSHA regulations and Speedwell Safety Standards, and by holding subcontractors accountable at all times

    + Participate in incident investigations, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

    + Support project closeout activities, including inspections, punch lists, turnover documentation, and final acceptance

    + Strong understanding of complex sitework projects and able to anticipate roadblocks and facilitate uninterrupted progress

    + Demonstrated experience with post-tension construction systems and proactive coordination of related constructability and sequencing challenges

    + Superintendent experience on complex multi-story and multi-building developments

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This position provides overall field leadership and is responsible for the daily management of job site activities and personnel. The Lead Construction Superintendent mentors and oversees Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, serves as a coach and technical resource for field staff, and promotes consistent field practices across projects.

    Work Environment:

    The employee will be located on active indoor and outdoor construction sites. The role frequently involves exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, airborne particles, and operating construction equipment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety gear must be used as required. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with extended hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.

    Physical Demands:

    The Lead Construction Superintendent must have the physical ability and endurance to routinely access and navigate active job sites. This includes the ability to sit, walk, climb, crawl, kneel, stoop, crouch, stand for extended periods, cross uneven terrain, navigate obstacles, reach, pull, and drive. The employee must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. The role also requires periods of office work using standard equipment, which may result in eye or muscle strain. Visual and auditory acuity are required to inspect work and communicate effectively on-site.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is an exempt, full-time position. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with a minimum expectation of 50 hours per week. Evening and weekend work may be required based on project demands.

    Travel:

    Travel to assigned job sites is required. Occasional travel for training, professional development, or company meetings may be required.

    Education and Experience:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or trade education preferred

    + Extensive familiarity with multiple construction trades and sequencing

    + Strong working knowledge of construction-related technology and field management software

    + Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents

    + Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in the construction industry

    + Minimum of 5+ years of experience in job site leadership or superintendent-level roles

    + Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects and multiple subcontractors with minimal oversight

    + Proven ability to mentor and lead field personnel

    + OSHA 30-hour certification required (OSHA 10-hour minimum)

    + CPR / First Aid certification preferred

    Work Authorization/Clearances:

    The employee must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review. A valid driver's license is required. This is a safety-sensitive position. The use of marijuana—including medical or recreational use where legal—is prohibited in accordance with federal safety standards and company policy.
