Bay Metals & Fabrication (BMF) is seeking an experienced 1st Class Sheet Metal Supervisor to support multiple shipyard job sites. This role is ideal for a strong leader with deep sheet metal knowledge who can manage crews, plan work, and represent BMF professionally with customers and shipyard partners.

Position Overview

The Sheet Metal Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production, managing manpower, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This position requires hands-on experience, leadership capability, and the ability to operate independently across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

+ Supervise and support multiple active shipyard job sites

+ Pre-plan work packages and order materials and consumables

+ Manage daily and weekly manning, timekeeping, and productivity

+ Coordinate schedules with other trades and subcontractors

+ Write WAFs, hot work tickets, and ensure proper permits are in place

+ Call out inspection checkpoints with Customer, QA, SBS, and shipyard reps

+ Attend production meetings and represent BMF professionally

+ Ensure crews remain productive, motivated, and safety-focused

+ Troubleshoot issues and develop solutions in real time

+ Support vent testing, balancing, and coordination with other trades

Required Experience & Qualifications

+ 3–5 years’ experience as a Lead Mechanic or 2nd Class Supervisor

+ Extensive hands-on sheet metal experience in a shipyard or industrial setting

+ Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and standard items

+ Proven experience managing manpower and job schedules

+ Ability to traverse between shipyards and support multiple projects

+ Strong communication and leadership skills

+ Vent balancing and testing experience required

+ Safety-focused mindset with knowledge of hot work processes

Preferred Skills

+ Experience mentoring and developing mechanics at all levels

+ Familiarity working directly with customers and QA representatives

+ Ability to assess over- or under-manning and adjust resources accordingly.
