Position Description:
Performs routine compliance activities related to research compliance, including human subjects, animal care, conflict of interest and/or export control. This position is reserved for use in departments that have institutional oversight of research.

Major/Essential Functions:
+ Serves as the main administrative support staff for the Conflict of Interest in Research Committee (COIRC), coordinating logistics, creating and maintaining the agenda, accurate meeting minutes, and preparing correspondence regarding deliberations and contingencies for approval of Conflict Management Plans.
+ Provides formal and informal regulatory and methodological advice and assistance to all research personnel regarding conflict of interest and financial disclosure requirements. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Using the iRIS system, provides initial screening of disclosures, collecting and independently analyzing data to assist reviewers with the review process. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Manages and updates the Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) spreadsheet. Makes available to stakeholders such as SP, VP for Research, COIRC, and other regulatory committees.
+ Provides oversight to ensure that research personnel have current research disclosures on file.
+ Provides onboarding, orientation and training for new COIRC members, and ongoing educational activities for current members, as applicable. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Creates and finalizes appointment and reappointment letters, and member agreements for the COIRC. Ensures that member training requirements are being maintained. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Assists in drafting policies and procedures related to COIRC and financial disclosure related issues, as needed or requested by the Sr. Director.
+ Reviews and maintains the COIRC website, ensuring that all information is current and accurate.
+ Provides access to iRIS software system for qualified researchers upon request; ensures that all training requirements have been met. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Maintains and updates CITI training and financial disclosures in iRIS, daily. Reconciles "non-merged" training list in iRIS. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Provides ongoing oversight and communicates with research staff regarding expiration of CITI training, as applicable to the research committee and research activities. Updates training records in iRIS, as necessary. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Serves as the institutional CITI (University of Miami) program administrator for TTUHSC EP and manages requested changes/updates to CITI modules.
+ Removes iRIS access for terminated TTUHSC EP employees with research protocols using separation/ termination report notifications. Implements and maintains processes to support this.
+ Coordinates the Ethics Committee meetings and Open Office Hour event logistics to include meal and beverage orders, required pre-approvals and required documentation for authorized expenditures as needed, flyers, sign-in sheets, facilities work orders, and audiovisual requests.
+ Serves as the designated backup for the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Institutional Animal Care Use Committee (IACUC).
+ Assists the Research Compliance Unit with processing and assigning training requests, as needed.
+ Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory compliance and training requirements for this position
+ Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
+ Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Administrative experience required.
+ Experience in a research setting preferred.
+ Ability to apply and interpret federal and state regulations related to research.
+ Knowledge of iRIS software system
+ Knowledge of University of Miami CITI program.
+ Knowledge of Excel databases.
+ Medical terminology coursework/experience preferred; Proficient in Spanish preferred.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to use independent knowledge to analyze and prepare data for review; proficient in the use of Microsoft office applications as well as have the ability to learn and utilize new computer software programs
+ Excellent typing and transcription skills; excellent organizational and efficiency skills
+ Ability to work independently and to prioritize objectives; ability to maintain focus on multiple tasks within a short time frame; attention to detail; ability to read and understand technical and regulatory terminology and to efficiently convey key information to others; knowledge of federal and institutional requirements related to conflicts of interest in research
+ Ability to get along with administrators, faculty members, government officials, TTUHSC EP staff and students.
