Caterpillar has a great opportunity for a **Design Engineer** to join the Power Systems engineering team and contribute to helping our customers build a better, more sustainable world. You will be responsible for the design of diesel engine installations used in Skid Steer and Compact Track Loaders as part of the Building Construction Products (BCP) Division. Your role will serve as an engine installation design specialist in support of both New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts and processes while maintaining current industry knowledge.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
+ Develop design concepts and drawings of engine installation components that meet functional and technical requirements, cost goals, quality initiatives, and manufacturing process requirements.
+ Lead and actively participate in internal validation processes, including overseeing builds, testing, and inspection of developmental hardware.
+ Identify and resolve design issues that negatively impacting product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
+ Collaborate effectively with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams, as well as suppliers, leveraging strong communication and interpersonal skills.
What You Have (Core Skills)
+ **Degree Requirement:** Bachelor’s degree in engineering or materials science
+ **Analytical Thinking:** Applies analytical techniques and tools to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and develop effective solutions to organizational problems. Demonstrates systematic thinking by using data-driven methods, logical reasoning, and intuition to interpret patterns and make informed decisions.
+ **Technical Excellence:** Demonstrates strong technical expertise by applying current procedures and technologies to resolve functional challenges and deliver high-quality products and services. Continuously builds knowledge, adheres to technical standards, and assists others in solving technical or procedural issues to achieve excellence.
+ **Design for Manufacturability** : Applies design for manufacturability principles to optimize product design for both external supplier manufacturing of components and internal manufacturing of the final product **.**
+ **Troubleshooting Technical Problems:** :Effectively communicates complex technical information and solutions to internal and external customers for problem resolution. Leverages hands-on experience to diagnose and resolve issues as needed.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
+ Experience with engine or engine installation design.
+ Experience collaborating with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability
+ Knowledge of Skid Steer Loaders or Compact Track Loaders
+ Knowledge with Caterpillar Engineering Systems (Creo, Teamcenter, HVC, EDS, etc.)

+ This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)
Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
