Position Summary
The **Cassandra Database Engineer** is an expert in NoSQL database technologies, specializing in Cassandra database administration. This role focuses on operational activities for production database platforms and requires strong expertise in public cloud technologies (AWS and/or GCP).
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
+ Perform database performance analysis and operational reviews for production platforms.
+ Manage database operations, including incident response, alert resolution, and third-party support engagement.
+ Deploy and maintain database monitoring solutions.
+ Test and implement database restore and recovery procedures.
+ Handle database platform deployment, installation, patching, change management, and software upgrades.
+ Identify and deploy database hardening procedures across public cloud, hosted, and on-premises platforms.
+ Provide database expertise and operational support to technical support and project delivery teams.
+ Participate in platform reviews, performance tuning, security evaluations, and recommend improvements.
Minimum Requirements
+ High school diploma with 5+ years of Cassandra administration experience (not architecture/design).
+ College degree in Computer Science preferred, plus 8–10 years of experience.
+ 8–10 years of NoSQL database experience, specializing in Cassandra administration.
+ Extensive experience with public cloud database deployment, management, and migration.
+ Expertise in database concepts, standards, and deployment methodologies.
+ Proven experience managing high-profile production database platforms with strict SLAs.
+ Ability to deploy high-availability database architectures.
+ Strong technical background, proactive mindset, and leadership qualities.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Highly skilled in Cassandra database administration; DataStax Enterprise experience is a plus.
+ Strong troubleshooting and production operations skills.
+ Linux operating system experience.
+ Familiarity with public cloud deployment tools (GitLab, Terraform, Datadog).
+ Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker.
+ Experience in database performance evaluation and tuning.
Special Position Requirements
+ Ability to multitask and respond quickly to emergency incidents on production platforms.
+ Comfortable working under tight deadlines and communicating effectively with project teams and management.
+ Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
