    Intern - Golf Course Maintenance, Whistling Straits

    Opportunity

     

    Assist the Superintendent and Assistants in the operation and management of course maintenance to prepare for an upcoming championship.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    + All aspects of golf course maintenance, construction, irrigation (installation, troubleshooting and repair) and drainage

    + Fertilizer and pesticide calibration and application

    + Turfgrass establishment

    + Employee training

    + Daily labor scheduling

    + Tournament preparationPossible Projects: New construction, drainage, addition of trees, landscape of native plants, fairway contours, rogue grass removal. Possible Research Work: Research of pesticide, water sampling and testing, nematode research.

    Skills/Requirements

    + Must be attending or have completed a turf management program.

    + Understanding levels of course conditioning (how to determine, how to attain and how to compare with other courses).

    + Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.

     

    _Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future._

     

    _The hourly rate for this position is $16.00. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including candidate's education and work location._
