    Posting Description

    TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1, Nuclear Science and Engineering, to assist in the development and application of high-fidelity digital twins for nuclear systems co-located with large-scale data centers. The position will focus on high fidelity and surrogate modeling of a prismatic high temperature gas reactor at the core and plant level. The work will be done in close collaboration with faculty in the Nuclear Science and Engineering Department. Will use computer scripting languages to incorporate safety and economic principles into the digital twin; focus on high fidelity and surrogate modeling of a prismatic high temperature gas reactor at the core and plant level. These models will be developed into a digital twin methodology, answering questions about plant layout, flexible operation and maintenance; performing complex coding and programming to make high fidelity digital twins to support nuclear reactors co-located with large-scale data centers; and preparing progress reports and may co-author technical papers.

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science or closely related field; competency in python, matlab or some alternative; and a minimum of two years of experience. PREFERRED: Master’s degree; strong foundation in nuclear fission reactor physics or thermal hydraulics; experience in nuclear reactor modeling and simulation; and experience with plant dynamics modeling and academic publications.

     

    This is a full-time, hybrid position. The position is for one year, renewable for up to one additional year pending funding and satisfactory performance.
