Amazon’s Consumables Insights and Analytics team is looking for an analytical, driven, and creative leader to drive strategically important operational initiatives through business intelligence and leveraging the power of data analytics.

     

    The Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) is an innovative, results driven professional that executes continuous improvement through data-driven actions. The individual must exercise strong judgment and autonomy in the identification and execution of strategic improvement plans built on cross-Category, Technology, and Operations partnerships. This role will impact and inform how Amazon executes Consumables businesses across the NA Store. The individual should possess a track record of successful relationship management, strong business and analytical acumen, and experience working with technology and engineering teams. Great communication skills, ability to think big and influence cross Amazon teams and high ownership to deliver successful results will be essential.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Design complex BI solutions solving problems across Amazon Consumables business, delivering strategic insights with complete independence

     

    - Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning North America Stores, influencing broader tech roadmaps and establishing CIA as a center of excellence

     

    - Create executive-level reporting frameworks and deep-dive analysis tools that enable data-driven decision making across the Consumables ecosystem

     

    - Architect the team's analytics ecosystem transformation through AI innovation, delivering enhanced productivity, intelligent self-service capabilities, and faster business decisions

     

    - Design robust, extensible BI solutions setting the standard for technical excellence with focus on scalability, cost-efficiency, and operational leverage

     

    - Create process optimization tools that challenge existing workflows and drive more scalable execution across category operations

     

    - Develop comprehensive intelligence roadmaps addressing automation, scale, and productivity across the consumables value chain

     

    - Build insights-oriented solutions enhancing workflows for category leaders, vendor managers, finance partners, and stakeholder teams

     

    - Establish knowledge repositories and analytical frameworks supporting CIA's mission and broader organizational use

     

    - Mentor team members and lead technical assessments supporting growth objectives

     

    - Drive organizational best practices and frameworks that align teams toward coherent, scalable analytics approaches while maintaining stakeholder transparency

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of professional or military experience

     

    - 5+ years of SQL experience

    - Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

    - Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

     

    - Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

     

    - Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

     

    - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

     

    - Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.

     

    - Experience working as a BIE in a technology company

     

    - Experience with AWS technologies

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
