Duties Description A Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities.A Trades Generalist uses the hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the craft or crafts to which assigned.-This position requires a working knowledge of methods, material, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which assigned; working knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations; ability to use the tools, machines, equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned; ability to train and supervise others; ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems, and ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.Typical work to include, HVAC maintenance/repairs, BMS monitoring, building construction/repairs, electrical installations/repairs, plumbing installations/repairs, fence and gate installations/repairs, concrete walk construction, drywall installation and finishing, interior and exterior building painting, landscaping and snow removal.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
