Description
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Associate Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute, storage, content delivery, database services, and more. AWS also offers a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) services, infrastructure, and tools to help users build, train, and deploy AI models.
Key job responsibilities
This position will primarily support AWS's teams selling to startup and venture capital-backed customers, including by negotiating, drafting and advising on strategic enterprise agreements and technology licensing agreements, advising on policy, regulatory and compliance issues, and assisting with business development and other initiatives. Typical transactions will range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value strategic agreements. The candidate will have primary drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business team members. The role also includes participating in other AWS legal projects, including managing legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working cross functionally across several teams
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent
- Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented approach to addressing issues
- Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow in a team environment

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
