Brief Position Overview
The Admissions Supervisor in the Graduate Schools Recruitment and Admissions unit performs a variety of technical and customer service supportive and front-facing tasks, marketing and recruitment, and can step in for the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions as needed.

Position Details
General Statement
Under the supervision of the Director of Recruitment and Admissions at The Graduate School, this position will perform a variety of technical and customer service support tasks in support of The Graduate School and the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Because this position has extensive contact with students, public, staff, faculty, and the department heads, the person in this position must possess the skills to tactfully and diplomatically respond to a wide variety of contacts. The work is highly detailed and requires teamwork, problem-solving skills, and interpretation and implementation of MUS and MSU policies and procedures. Personal initiative and judgment are essential to deal effectively with highly confidential and restricted academic record information.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision from the Graduate Admissions Director, this individual will:
+ Process graduate student admission applications, applicant re-enrollment forms, and other requests at the Graduate School level.
+ Become knowledgeable and able to step into the Director’s functions of planning, directing, and coordinating the overall admissions work unit.
+ Participate in the review and revision of current application and forms, recruitment brochures, and other relevant materials.
+ Collaborate regularly with the online application vendor (CollegeNET) regarding programming and functionality.
+ Assist in planning and conducting of graduate coordinator meetings at a frequency of twice per academic year; as well as other meetings associated with The Graduate School’s admission process (e.g., orientation, CollegeNET).
+ Provide oversight of records, compilation of statistics for reporting purposes and other electronic processes when necessary.
+ Assist in the training of Graduate School admissions students support staff.
+ Perform other duties as assigned/requested.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Two years post-secondary education plus three years administrative experience, which includes highly detailed work assignments and extensive contact with the public, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
+ Demonstrated software experience, including relational databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
+ Demonstrated experience composing, formatting, and proofing business correspondence and general office materials accurately and professionally.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ General knowledge of higher education curricula, policies and procedures.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
+ Demonstrated experience conducting meetings/trainings in a higher education setting; demonstrated ability to present in front of a large audience.
+ Experience developing multi-media training materials

+ Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service in a positive, professional, and helpful manner.
+ Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, and an aptitude for responding to a variety of questions from a broad range of individuals, both internal and external, to the organization.
+ Demonstrated competence in organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities in a busy office setting.
+ Demonstrated competence in maintaining, processing, and verifying detailed records with a high degree of accuracy.
Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
+ Be available on short notice to represent The Graduate School at on and off campus conferences or events.
