Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Chester, Virginia. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in corporate tax and accounting processes, who thrives in delivering accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial systems and assisting with the preparation of tax returns.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

• Handle sales tax filings and ensure accuracy in tax reporting.

• Post journal entries and reconcile accounts to maintain accurate records.

• Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

• Identify and resolve discrepancies within financial reports and accounts.

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial data for tax preparation.

• Assist in audits by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.

• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting standards to ensure compliance.

• Provide recommendations for improving financial processes and systems. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and reporting.

• Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and filing processes.

• Proficiency in managing journal entries and reconciling accounts.

• Expertise in maintaining and analyzing general ledger records.

• Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing procedures.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teams and communicate effectively.

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
