Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Patient Registration specialist in Dowagiac, Michigan. In this contract role, you will play a key part in ensuring smooth patient intake processes and providing exceptional service to patients and their families. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills and a passion for customer care in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

• Register patients accurately in the emergency department, including admissions for inpatient and outpatient care.

• Input patient demographic and financial data efficiently into the hospital's computer system.

• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility to facilitate treatment.

• Collect co-payments and other patient-related payments in a courteous and efficient manner.

• Conduct interviews with patients and their families to gather necessary registration details.

• Prepare and manage registration forms, admissions paperwork, and relevant documentation.

• Provide clerical support by handling various secretarial tasks as required.

• Escort patients within the hospital and assist with tracking bed availability.

• Support patient transfer and discharge processes in coordination with hospital staff.

• Handle medical records requests in compliance with organizational policies.

Requirements • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate compassionately and effectively with patients and families.

• Demonstrated proficiency in data entry with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification processes is preferred.

• Ability to perform efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with healthcare staff.

• Basic math skills for managing payments and financial transactions.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
