    Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all mechanical systems and equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires a deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment, including production machines, HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, and conveyors, to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively.

    + Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues with production and facility equipment, including identifying the root cause of failures and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.

    + Assist in the installation, commissioning, and calibration of new equipment and machinery, ensuring all installations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

    + Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and parts inventory, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with GMP, OSHA, and other relevant safety and regulatory standards.

    + Collaborate closely with other departments, such as production, quality assurance, and engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production schedules.

    + Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to equipment and maintenance procedures to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong background in mechanical engineering.

    + Experience in process engineering and process improvement.

    + Knowledge of GMP and FDA compliance standards.

    + Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

    + Experience with preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in validation and validation protocols.

    + Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

    + background in chemical engineering and reliability engineering.

    Work Environment

    The work environment consists of a plant with approximately 150 team members, working within a team of around 10-15. While this role does not lead maintenance mechanics, it involves working closely with them. The position typically follows a standard day shift, but there may be times when support is needed on nights and weekends. The role offers a lot of room for growth and the ability to lead teams and initiatives throughout the plant.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $55.28/hr.
