Job Title: Phlebotomist - Astoria
Job Description
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for greeting patients as they arrive at the lab, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and handling specimen processing tasks such as centrifuging. The role also involves updating patient information, collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, and explaining the specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
Responsibilities
+ Greet patients as they enter the lab and provide excellent customer service.
+ Perform blood draws using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
+ Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings and stay updated on protocols.
+ Handle insurance, billing, and processing of samples.
+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results when necessary.
+ Maintain and decontaminate equipment, and record maintenance data.
Essential Skills
+ Phlebotomy certification
+ 6+ months of phlebotomy experience
+ Experience in customer service in any setting
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
+ Ability to handle feedback well and eagerness to learn
+ Strong patient-first mindset
+ Positive, hardworking personality with initiative
+ Proven reliability and positive attendance record
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Knowledge of medical terminology
+ Experience with specimen processing
+ Data entry skills
+ Experience working with geriatric patients

The role is based in Astoria, OR, and involves a 3-month contract with potential for extension. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.24/hr.
