    AVP, Loss Mitigation Manager

     

    The AVP, Loss Mitigation Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of Collection Specialists in collecting past due payments for all consumer installment loans including direct and indirect loans, residential mortgages, credit card accounts, overdrafts, overdraft lines of credit and small business commercial loans. This role is also responsible for the restructuring and management of adversely graded small business commercial loans.

     

    The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge of consumer and commercial business loan regulations including collections and fair lending. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of four years collections experience is highly preferred.

    POSITION TITLE: REPORTS TO:

    AVP, Loss Mitigation manager SVP, Chief Credit Officer

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Supervises and coordinates activities of Collections Specialists in collecting past due payments for all consumer installment loans including direct and indirect loans, residential mortgages, credit card accounts, overdrafts, overdraft lines of credit and small business commercial loans. Responsible for restructuring and managing adversely graded small business commercial loans.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Reviews delinquent account records to identify customers to be contacted for collection of past due accounts.

    + Prioritizes collection workload according to degree and amount of delinquency and assigns accounts to Collections Specialists.

    + Authorizes accounts for repossession and legal actions against debtors.

    + Collaborates with small business borrowers to manage past due payments and to collect outstanding credit.

    + Maintains accurate and complete records on past due accounts and collections actions; prepares periodic reports regarding same.

    + Develops and recommends collection strategies; ensures that collection actions on are appropriate and timely, and that established policies and procedures are observed.

    + Assists Collections Specialists with collection activities in difficult cases.

    + Works closely with officials to secure collateral, equity, or other assets of the borrower, with the objectives to preserve the loan principal, gather interest as possible, and prevent the loan from being charged off.

    + Evaluates credit and repayment terms for restructure.

    + Performs other tasks as requested as they relate to the bank and its functions.

    + Adheres to bank policies and procedures.

    SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

    + Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain excellent workplace relationships.

    + A strong ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact, and professionalism.

    + Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Must be organized and detail oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.

    + Excellent MS Office suite skills required.

    + Team player mentality yet able to work independently and learn adaptively

    + Strong desire to succeed; self-motivated and willing to take on challenges

    + Comprehensive knowledge of consumer and commercial business loan regulation including collections and fair lending.

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

    + Minimum four years collections experience required.

    + Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
