THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is seeking a skilled Staff Physician 2 to join our medical team at Torrance State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients under your supervision, including conducting thorough evaluations, performing detailed medical examinations, and making accurate diagnoses. You will prescribe appropriate treatment plans and interpret consultation reports, laboratory results, and other diagnostic findings. Responsibilities will include delivering medical care to patients in assigned areas, conducting daily unit rounds, assessing and treating acutely ill or injured patients, and ordering necessary laboratory tests, imaging, and specialty consultations. You will review and analyze diagnostic results and consultation reports and provide timely follow-up care as needed. In addition, you will identify patients’ medical needs and coordinate transfers to acute care hospitals for emergency or non-emergency medical treatment when required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. E vening, weekend, and holiday on-call hours may be required.

+ Travel and overtime: As needed

+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ Three years of experience and/or training in the practice of medicine.

Special Requirement:

+ You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Medicine Board, or the State Osteopathic Medicine Board.

Other Requirements:

+ PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.

+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

+ A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

+ This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

+ Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
