Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic candidate for its Adjunct Instructor - Speech (Part-Time) position in the Arts and Sciences department of the Academic & Student Affairs Division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s Main campus, just South of downtown Atlanta, Ga.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Arts and Sciences , the Adjunct Instructor - Speech will be a part-time (adjunct) faculty member that teaches in General Education Communications and Public Speaking courses. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping students develop essential computer skills. This position involves creating and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to the overall success of the students . Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:
+ Follows approved course syllabus.
+ Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
+ Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
+ Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
+ Attend meetings as required and appropriate.
+ Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
+ Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
+ Prepares and delivers lecture and/or lab course material.
+ Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for general core courses.
+ Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
+ Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
+ Performs additional duties as assigned.
Competencies:
• Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials
• Knowledge of vocational area of assignment
• Skill in presenting subject matter
• Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress
• Skill in the use of computers and job related software programs
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners
• Oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of student information systems
Minimum Qualifications :
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
Master’s degree in communication or at least 18 graduate credit hours in Communication from a regionally accredited institution
PREFFERED Qualifications :
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
• Doctorate degree in communication
• Post-secondary teaching experience within diverse settings and engagement with a wide range of student populations
* May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community . *
