Principal Project Engineer is a senior-level role responsible for leading and managing complex
engineering projects. They oversee the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design to
implementation and completion. Principal Project Engineers coordinate with cross-functional teams,
stakeholders, and clients to ensure project objectives are met within budget and timeline constraints.
They provide technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and actively participate in project reviews, risk assessments, and quality control processes. Strong leadership, communication, and
problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
1. Plans, designs and manages very complex construction, rehabilitation, and/or alteration of
structures, facilities, equipment and/or other infrastructure systems.
2. Coordinates the activities of assigned project staff and/or contractors in the design, development
and implementation of very complex engineering projects.
3. Develops standards and criteria for design and construction for very complex engineering
projects. Develops, designs, proposals, schedules and cost estimates for assigned projects.
4. Evaluates progress and results of engineering activity and recommends changes in procedures of
assigned projects.
5. Maintains liaison with individuals and units (internally and externally) to facilitate the completion of
assigned projects.
6. Manages the estimation of human and other resources needs and schedules work to meet
completion dates and technical specifications.
Education, Experience and Qualifications / KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
• Baccalaureate degree in appropriate engineering discipline
Knowledge and Skills:
• Six years of applied engineering experience, to include project management experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
PPE License – Preferred not required.
Education can be substituted for required years of experience.
