    Description

    This position is responsible for ensuing that all products meet overall Estee Lauder quality standards. It provides leadership and direction to drive manufacturing plant and/or suppliers towards higher quality products and processes within and above compliance to regulations such as Health Canada GMP and US FDA.

     

    This position has responsibility for exempt and non⁃exempt personnel in QA groups at one or more Canadian Estee Lauder manufacturing locations. It is involved with manufacturing, packaging, development, and QA in Estee Lauder Canada manufacturing plants, distribution sites and third party facilities in Canada for problem resolution and continuous improvement.

     

    This position leads and supports the accountability for overall product quality (including Canadian regulatory compliance) manufactured by Estee Lauder Canada plants and including products shipped through the Canadian Distribution center.

     

    This position uses their expertise to support the best interest of the company and the customer globally.

     

    1. Strategize and develop a professional organization of Estee Lauder Canada Quality Assurance team and employee to support the Estee Lauder Quality standard and Estee Lauder Canada operational business.

    2. Provides the coaching, training, and development necessary to enhance the competencies, skills, knowledge and expertise of the individuals that report directly.

    3. Strategize training and development opportunities in Canada for Estee Lauder Canada QA department.

    4. Lead and direct activities in the areas of Quality Assurance laboratories, fill and assembly and 3rd party suppliers in Canada.

    5. Provide interface and leadership.

    6. Assure that all laboratories, operational and distribution activities at all Canadian Estee Lauder manufacturing and distribution locations meet GMP and as required by Canadian drug GMP Regulations and US FDA. Approve the disposition of products in accordance with Canadian drug GMP Regulations and US FDA.

    7. Assure that all Canadian 3rd party facilities comply with Estee Lauder Quality standards and Canadian drug GMP regulations.

    8. Leads and supports active programs for Quality process improvement throughout Canadian manufacturing and distribution locations.

    9. Manages budgetary controls for QA groups in the department at Estee Lauder Canada Operational site.

    10. Ensures QA Canada and QA management team have clearly defined annual objectives and ensures performance is reviewed against those objectives.

    11. To develop and support the development of QA strategy and objectives to meet the goals of the Corporate QA and Canadian operations.

    12. Promotes and develops effective relationships with suppliers.

    13. Works as a lead to resolve, to improve and maintain the quality of the materials manufactured and shipped by suppliers to multiple Estee Lauder Canada locations.

    14. Ensures targets are set, timelines are determined and results reported for Canada QA that aligns with the business objectives.

    15. Strategize, maintain and improve Quality systems and process in Canada that will ensure the following activities:

    • Investigation of rejects, root cause analysis and corrective actions. ⁃ All processes are capable and in control. ⁃ Working practices are in⁃line with global company practices and procedures. ⁃ All complaints are investigated, improvements implemented and response made in a timely manner. ⁃ New product launches process capability and prevention of quality issues. ⁃ Resolution of critical quality issues ⁃ Regulatory compliance ⁃ Monthly reporting, technical documentation, and documented procedures.

    Qualifications

    • BS in Engineering / Technical / Science

    • 10⁃15 years experience in QA Management or a related field

    • Knowledge of component manufacturing processes

    • Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or food industry manufacturing desirable

    • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, production and testing processes and utilization of quality metrics

    • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for the manufacture of cosmetic drug products (including a thorough knowledge of Health Canada and US FDA regulations)

    • Competencies: strong managerial, organizational, human⁃relations/interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, high level of computer literacy, training and coaching skills, excellent analytical skills, good understanding of statistical and problem solving techniques, multi⁃task capability
