About this Job
The Campus Leadership Coordinator is a mid-level professional role responsible for advancing leadership development opportunities for LSUS students and coordinating professional development initiatives for Student Affairs staff. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Involvement and Staff Development, the Campus Leadership Coordinator will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Student Life to design and implement a variety of leadership programs that foster student growth, engagement, and success. This position also plays a key role in expanding the reach and vibrancy of LSUS campus life by promoting and supporting leadership, engagement, and community-building events that occur during evenings and weekends. Additionally, this position will serve as the lead coordinator for staff professional development within the Division of Student Affairs, working closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor to deliver meaningful training and development experiences for Student Affairs professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree.
+ 1 – 2 years of experience working in higher education or a related field.

+ Demonstrated experience in event planning, program coordination, or student/staff development.
+ Knowledge of student development theory and its application in higher education settings.
+ Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel Services, or a related field.
+ Experience designing and assessing student leadership programs or staff professional development initiatives.
+ Familiarity with curriculum design, learning outcomes, and program evaluation in higher education.
+ Prior experience in a university or Student Affairs setting.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Job Duties and Other Information
Position Duties:
Student Leadership Development
+ Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Student Life to develop, implement, and assess leadership programs such as workshops, retreats, and certificate programs.
+ Support the creation of new initiatives that help students build leadership skills applicable to both campus life and future careers.
+ Assist in event planning and logistical support for Student Life initiatives and leadership programming, including events held during evenings and weekends.
+ Contribute to the development of learning outcomes and assessment tools that measure student leadership growth.
Staff Professional Development
+ Serve as the primary coordinator for Student Affairs staff professional development initiatives, including in-house trainings, workshops, and retreats.
+ Partner with the Student Affairs Leadership Team to identify, plan, and deliver professional development opportunities for Student Affairs staff at all levels.
+ Track and assess participation, outcomes, and overall impact of professional development efforts.
+ Research and recommend best practices in staff development and training.
General Responsibilities
+ Provide event support for major Student Affairs and Student Life programs, including select evening and weekend events that advance student engagement and leadership.
+ Help foster a culture of continuous student involvement by encouraging and supporting programs that extend beyond traditional hours.
+ Supervise graduate assistants, interns, or student workers as assigned.
+ Maintain accurate program records and prepare reports on leadership and professional development activities.
+ Participate in division and university committees as assigned.
Support and Collaboration
+ Work collaboratively with the Assistant Directors for Student Life, Residence Life, and Recreational Sports to integrate leadership and engagement outcomes across departmental programs.
+ Partner with the Student Engagement Coordinator to align leadership development content with student activities, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and campus involvement opportunities.
+ Collaborate with the Office of Community Engagement to develop service-based leadership experiences and civic engagement programming that connects leadership learning with community impact.
+ Coordinate with the Offices of Admissions and Recruitment to highlight student leadership pathways and involvement opportunities for prospective and incoming students.
+ Partner with Student Success to align leadership programs with retention and belonging initiatives that support holistic student development.
+ Support divisional communication and assessment efforts by sharing leadership success stories, data, and best practices across Student Affairs units.
+ Serve as a resource to Student Affairs colleagues by providing consultation, training, or facilitation related to leadership development and staff learning.
