Minimum Qualifications
Possession of the appropriate level of U.S. Coast Guard license for the vessel and duties assigned.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Dredging and Vessel Operations:Operates work boats and specialized marine equipment in support of dredging activities, including towing barges, pipelines, pontoons, and disabled vessels; conducts sounding and survey operations; and utilizes navigation, radar, radio, and safety systems to ensure safe and accurate operations.
+ Leadership and Operational Management:Manages and directs daily dredging operations to maintain assigned project depths, overseeing the dredge, pipeline, winch barge, and work boats; provides direct supervision of lower-level supervisory staff and vessel personnel; schedules work assignments; evaluates performance; and leads emergency fire and collision drills.
+ Planning, Compliance, and Reporting:Plans and schedules dredging and vessel movements; inspects equipment, machinery, rigging, and gear to ensure operational readiness and safety; maintains the Master Log; completes and submits required operational reports; and collects, inputs, and manages hydrographic data to support precise dredging operations.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Marine Operator 1,2 or 3.
Compensation:This position is eligible for premium pay of up to $1.50 per hour for each hour actually worked.
Work Schedule:This position currently consists of working a forty (40) hour work week with overtime as necessary.
