Job Overview:
APTIM, a leading engineering firm with a global presence and a thriving **Ports Infrastructure and Ports Equipment** practice, is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a **Port Engineering Intern** . This position is intended to play an important role in expanding APTIM's Port Engineering service offerings including crane inspections, third-party crane procurement, bulkhead and yard designs, supporting civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical engineering, etc. The APTIM team is multidisciplinary offering community resilience program management, flood control and mitigation, infrastructure engineering, energy efficiency program management, disaster recovery, and coastal restoration services. APTIM works with both government and private clients on a wide range of urban, environmental, and coastal issues.
APTIM is seeking a motivated, energetic, and personable early career professional with an interest in Port infrastructure engineering. This is a Temporary Position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from **May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026** . Interns are required to be fully available during **Week 1 (May 18--22)** and **Week 12 (August 3--7)** of the program. Week 12 includes **company-paid travel to an APTIM office** (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.
Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes **Memorial Day (May 25, 2026)** and **Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed)** .
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ Conduct engineering analyses and apply engineering tools for the design and formulation of ports projects
+ Assist project teams in conducting the design process for engineering projects from conceptual design to detailed designs
+ Prepare standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents
+ Coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline and with support services staff
+ Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys, and construction observations
+ Manage individual tasks and small projects while also working collaboratively as part of a team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects
Basic Qualifications:
+ Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering
+ Strong quantitative skillsets to support port projects, that include civil, structural, mechanical and coastal engineering.
+ Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework complete
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
+ Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
+ Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
+ Experience with engineering data analysis, GIS, or AutoCAD is an asset
+ Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment
+ Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $22.00 to $24.00 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
