Job Overview:
The Sustainability Solutions internship position will be in or around an APTIM's office and would involve Sustainability & Environmental Compliance projects. This is a temporary position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from **May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026** . Interns are required to be fully available during **Week 1 (May 18--22)** and **Week 12 (August 3--7)** of the program. Week 12 includes **company-paid travel to an APTIM office** (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.
Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes **Memorial Day (May 25, 2026)** and **Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed)** .
This will involve work in an office setting, as well as field work, and will include the following support roles:
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ Creating and developing an organization's short- and long-term sustainability strategies;
+ Support recycling and waste reduction initiatives, including helping clients with compliance;
+ Support APTIM's nationwide waste diversion and reduction programs;
+ Collecting and organizing sustainability data, including energy & water consumption, waste, and recycling;
+ Helping evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs;
+ Research and review environmental codes and regulations;
+ Group meetings with interns across the country and in other disciplines;
+ Communication of technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. via oral presentations;
+ Work independently or as part of a project team and be able to adjust to changing site or project conditions; and
+ Use of best practices and knowledge to improve products or services in own discipline.
+ Supporting compliance and permitting tasks associated with hazardous waste and hazardous materials management, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, storm water
+ Contributing to environmental documents and compliance processes
+ Regulatory research and analysis
+ Data management support including data interpretation and recordkeeping
+ Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
+ Collaborating on environmental reports
+ Potential client facility visits for data gathering
+ Use of innovative technology and tablets for data collection and use of environmental data systems.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Enrollment in and completion of at least three years of study in a Bachelor's degree program in a Science or Engineering field of study, such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Business or similar
+ Basic knowledge of sustainability theories, practices, and local, national, and global initiatives
+ Collaborative and inquisitive person looking to develop experience in environmental and sustainability disciplines beyond the classroom
+ Willingness to learn and to apply current coursework as needed
+ Ability to work remotely and/or at a site location
+ Ability to work with and contribute to a team
+ Time management, organization, and communication skills a plus but we will help you develop these skills
+ Must be at least 18 years of age with a clean driving record.
+ Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
Preferred Qualifications:
+ In fourth year of study in a Bachelor's degree program OR at least one year of study in a Master's degree program in a Science or Engineering field of study, such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability or similar
+ Relevant entry-level sustainability certifications such as Green Business Certification Inc.'s (GBCI's) Sustainability Excellence Associate (SEA) and/or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $23 to $26 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
