UPMC is hiring a full-time Specialty Counselor to join their Liver Cancer Center at the UPMC Kaufmann Medical Building in Pittsburgh! The Liver Cancer Center behavioral medicine team offers behavioral health services to LCC patients and their caregivers. The team also serves as independent living donor advocates for UPMC's kidney and liver living donor programs in Transplant Services

This position will be offering behavioral health assessment and evidence-based treatment to individuals with chronic health conditions (e.g. hepatocellular carcinoma) and caregivers of individuals with chronic health conditions. Our team treats a wide variety of mental and behavioral health concerns such as anxiety, depression, pain, fatigue, and end of life issues. Our ideal candidate would have at least one year of experience providing individual therapy and other mental health services. Previous experience working with adults and experience helping others cope with health-related issues is a plus!

This position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays!

Responsibilities:

+ Follows all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

+ Develops initial treatment plan in order to facilitate disposition planning.

+ Facilitates the flow of information to promote effective communication regarding patient care including Medical Records functions on the weekends or as needed.

+ Handles responsibility of mental health delegate system including ability to screen requests, provides education regarding the process and ability to generate petition and follow-up.

+ Provides telephone assessments to patients, significant others, professional representatives in obtaining both relevant clinical information as well as registration information in order to provide appropriate disposition and referrals that serve the patient's needs, including outpatient referrals, emergency services or an outside agency referral.

+ Attends all mandatory in-service trainings, competency trainings, staff meetings and other activities as assigned by supervisor.

+ Triages patients towards an appropriate clinical disposition.

+ Maintains a professional appearance and behaviors that positively represent the hospital to patients, families and the community. Follows the hospital's dress code and consistently wears the hospital employee identification badge. Follows all hospital rules on conduct.

+ Provides assessments of patients and families in collaboration with attending psychologist and other staff within Starzl Transplant Institute.

+ Maintains confidentiality per hospital policies and procedures and does not inappropriately access or distribute any sensitive information or allow other to do so.

+ Understands and appropriately follows all safety and disaster policies including the proper reporting of all accidents, unsafe conditions and incidents.

+ Satisfactorily completes all assigned competencies.

+ Master's Degree required or PhD preferred in psychology, psychology nursing, social work, or related field.

+ Must be able of provide direct care to patients and their families.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

+ Driver's License
