    The Community Affairs Senior Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing community and associate engagement initiatives that align with the organization’s vision, values, and business objectives. This position acts as the primary liaison between the organization and corporate charitable giving partners, as well as key internal and external stakeholders. Expected outcomes include advancing charitable giving initiatives, as well as US Foods associate engagement programming, fostering positive relationships externally and internally, and enhancing the company’s reputation within the communities it serves.

     

    This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days per week and the rest remote.

    Responsibilities:

    + Develop, manage, execute and track key performance indicators for annual charitable community engagement initiatives that support business goals, and address community needs and associate volunteerism events across existing corporate partnerships including Feeding America, American Red Cross, Military Family Advisory Network, Rethink Food and various Chicago partnerships.

    + Oversee and manage current associate assistance fund program, US Foods You Matter Fund. Act as liaison with fund management partner. Develop and manage associate communications to drive awareness for program. Provide annual recommendations for program optimizations.

    + Oversee and manage current US Foods Scholars program. Act as liaison with scholarship management partner. Support all communication and marketing levers to drive awareness for the program from application to the final identification of scholarship recipients.

    + Collaborate with external communications on all externally facing communications in support initiatives including sustainability reporting, press releases, social media, and website copy.

    + Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to drive associate volunteerism efforts and act as counsel for internal field leaders as they develop local charitable partnerships. Lead company’s Dollars for Doers program.

    + Serve as spokesperson for community affairs programming internally and externally. Prepare and deliver presentations for leadership and broader company awareness opportunities. Act as media spokesperson for programming.

    + Develop and execute against detailed project plans for all annual initiatives to ensure programming elements are meeting or exceeding deadlines.

    + Develop and manage budgets for community affairs programs and initiatives.

    + Manage company’s Community giving and engagement technology platform.

    + Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of community affairs initiatives.

    + Other duties as assigned by manager.

    Supervision:

    + Role reports directly to Senior Director, External Communications with oversight from Vice President, Corporate Communications.

    Relationships:

    + Role requires interactions with various levels of internal stakeholders across the Executive Leadership Team, Corporate Communications, field Culture Ambassador teams, Human Resources, Employee Business Resource Groups, facility logistics teams, field leadership, Finance, Corporate Sustainability team, Marketing, and any other disciplines required to facilitate seamless activations.

    + Role requires interactions with various levels of external stakeholders including, strategic partners and vendors, company’s public relations agency of record and media.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + 7 years of progressive experience in community relations, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, or a related field.

    + Demonstrated success in developing and executing community engagement and partnership strategies.

    + Passion for community development and social impact.

    + Ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.

    + Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

    + Excellent project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to strategically prioritize email and direct message requests.

    + Ability to build and adhere to project plans to meet or exceed deadlines.

    + Ability to collaborate, seek counsel, and receive management oversight from Senior Director, External Communications and Vice President, Corporate Communications.

    + Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.

    + Experience working with program and design support tools.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Public Affairs, or a related field.

     

    This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus.

    Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between

     

    $100,000 - $160,000
