Insight Global is partnering with a rapidly expanding organization in Austin, TX to hire its first ever Tax Accounting Lead! This is a fully onsite role (M-F) offering a unique opportunity to build and lead the company’s tax function from the ground up. In this role, you’ll be responsible for owning tax accounting, compliance, and process development while partnering closely with finance and senior leadership as the company continues to grow. You’ll manage relationships with third party advisors while supporting a range of incentive driven tax initiatives (including tax and R&D credits, sales & use tax, franchise tax, etc.). As the company grows and launches additional entities, the tax function will expand in complexity - starting with core corporate tax and evolving into broader research and tax strategy responsibilities.

This person will assess the current landscape, recommend tax technologies, and implement tax software/tools to build efficient, scalable tax processes. Ideal candidates come from public accounting at the Manager or Senior Manager level and brings a strong technical background in corporate taxation (multiple LLCs) and large-scale, complex organizational structures – ideally supporting companies that are within industries such as renewable energy, battery storage, utilities, manufacturing and/ or real estate, where high entity and intercompany volume is common.

What You'll Do:

• Establish and lead the company’s tax function, including compliance, reporting, and strategic planning.

• Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal and state income and franchise tax returns across all business entities.

• Manage income tax provisions (ASC 740), deferred tax, uncertain tax positions (FIN 48), and effective tax rate analysis.

• Serve as the primary liaison for auditors and external tax advisors.

• Direct property tax filings and R&D tax credit studies.

• Support clean energy incentives (ITC 48E/PTC 45X) and renewable energy tax reporting.

• Monitor legislative changes, research complex tax issues, and recommend strategic approaches.

• Identify opportunities for automation and lead implementation of improved tax processes.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Active CPA required.

• 7+ years of progressive tax experience in corporate or public accounting.

• Expertise in federal/state tax, property tax, R&D credits, and utility-based compliance.

• Strong knowledge of S & C corporation (LLCs), partnership taxation, and multi-entity structures.

• Proven experience with ASC 740 and income tax provision preparation.

• Background supporting organizations in renewable energy, real estate, utilities, or manufacturing.

• Exceptional technical tax skills and demonstrated leadership capability.

• Proficiency with tax software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Suite.

• Highly motivated, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
