Our Catalog Engineering team has built a highly scalable Omni Catalog Service. You will work on NextGen upstream integration, catalog migration to a new platform, and develop highly scalable catalog micro services. You’ll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you’ll be able to say that you work for the world’s largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it. As a **Senior Manager, Software Engineering** part of Sam’s Global Technologies **Team, you will make an impact by:**

+ Building and leading teams: Set and manage globally distributed engineering teams

+ Providing cross-functional leadership: Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, program, and business teams to deliver omni-solutions across Sam’s Tech

+ Developing and executing plans: Drive the execution of multiple business plans and tech initiatives. Effectively communicate execution, capacity, resource plans, and priorities

+ Building strategic relationships: Partner with peer teams to help design omni-presence solution across clubs and online

+ Operating with excellence: Set an example in managing code quality via reviews, coverage, automation for core application and peer teams. Contribute to technology backlog based on reviews.

What you’ll bring:

+ People Management with 6+ more direct reports

+ Technology Background of Software Engineering with Java, Cloud Technologies, and Data Engineering

+ In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, technologies, architectures, and emerging technologies specifically in retail systems landscape

+ Experience delivering applications at scale leveraging public cloud.

+ Experience in creating high performing teams through accountability, metrics, innovation, automation, and CI/CD

+ Experience driving engineering teams using Agile process to drive innovation, accelerate decisions and outcomes while minimizing risk.

+ Experience in making successful trade-offs that balance the short- and long-term goals and initiatives.

+ Ability to work with cross-org stakeholders to plan and deliver critical services.

+ A strong commitment to developing Associates and helping them achieve their personal and career goals.

+ Executive presence skills to present to senior leadership

+ Work on major architectural enhancements to achieve system uptime of 99.99% by making several microservices and infrastructure components fault tolerant and highly available system.

+ Engage in development and maintenance of eCommerce applications.

+ Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.

+ Gain exposure to various emerging technologies used in Advertising and E-commerce platforms.

+ Provide technical direction, architecture leadership and expertise to the team.

+ Lead by example. Show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.

+ Drive projects of high visibility across the organization.

+ Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project, product and business requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); designing robust and scalable architectures; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects; ensuring on-time delivery;

Qualifications

+ Background experience with software language such as RESTful Services, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Python, NoSql.

+ Working knowledge of one or more cloud technologies such as AZURE, GCP, OpenStack

+ Work with a team of highly skilled developers and testing professionals to deliver high quality test automation and products.

+ Experience in internet-scale distributed technologies (e.g. Kafka, Mem Cache, etc.)

+ Relevant experience with relational and no-sql databases (e.g. Cassandra, etc.)

+ Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.

+ Understanding of Architecture and Design patterns

+ Strong communication and presentation skills to influence others and gain alignment

+ Foster culture of innovation, continuous learning & development among the team

+ MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...
