**Job Title:** Staff Accountant
**Location:** Chesapeake, VA
**Employment Type:** Full-Time, Monday–Friday
**Work Schedule:** In-office Monday–Thursday, Remote Fridays
**Compensation:** $70,000–$75,000
**Placement Type:** Direct Hire or Temp-to-Hire
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and the month-end close process. This role is ideal for an organized and analytical accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation across a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness
+ Prepare and complete general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
+ Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis
+ Maintain organized and well-documented workpapers supporting reconciliations
+ Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve issues
+ Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation
+ Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
+ 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
+ Experience with accounting software, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
+ Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
