The Recovery Care Center (RCC) is a specialized 10-bed overnight unit that provides personalized, high-quality care for patients recovering from a wide range of surgical procedures, including total joint replacements, spine surgeries, mastectomies, thyroid procedures, and urologic surgeries. In this supportive and fast-paced environment, patients receive close monitoring as they recover from anesthesia, expert post-operative pain management, and vigilant assessment for potential complications. Most patients transition home the next day, and the RCC team plays a key role in preparing them for a safe and confident recovery through comprehensive education and discharge planning.

As part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, nurses in the RCC use their clinical expertise and professional judgment to deliver patient-centered care to individuals and their families. This role offers the opportunity to practice in an environment guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model. In addition to supporting Surgical Services as needed, this position functions as an integral member of the Float Pool, offering professional variety, continued learning, and meaningful impact across multiple care areas.
