General Summary
Performs a variety of technical and general duties at an advanced skill level. Functions in one or more laboratory division. Functions independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist II. Will perform routine and specialized testing of body fluids with supervision appropriate. Inoculate, cultivate, classify, and identify microorganisms found in bodily fluids, exudates, scrapings, autopsy and surgical specimens in order to provide data on cause, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. Record data from medical tests, prepare analyses and reports based on data, and enter results into patient medical records. Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment. Consult with medical staff and other heal care providers on matters relating to laboratory services. Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field. Must have ASCP AMT certification in Medical Technology field, includes MLS, IMLS, H, or M certifications. Must have 24-mont experience working as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
