Job Description
We are presently seeking an **Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist** who will assist the EH&S Manager with tasks related to EH&S regulatory compliance, current EH&S systems maintenance, as well as advancement of proactive facility initiatives and systems improvements.
What you’ll do
+ Assist with the development and implementation of EH&S programs and procedures to meet regulatory standards
+ Conducts internal safety audits and inspections with associated recordkeeping
+ Coordinates corrective actions as necessary
+ Responsible for OSHA and EH&S recordkeeping, document retention, and filing
+ Responsible for Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance and approval of new chemicals;
+ Prepares or assists with preparation of environmental reports (Tier II, hazardous waste, etc.)
+ Assist with accident investigations, including interviews, accident reporting, claim reporting and submission, medical clinic assistance, and communicating claim updates
+ Oversees or assists with third party contractors and consultants as they relate to EHS activities
+ Assists with inspections (scheduled and unscheduled) by regulatory agencies and subsequent inspection closure requirements
+ Assists with job hazard analysis and the selection of personal protection equipment
+ Coordinates and creates facility-specific safety training using internal resources or consultants
+ Maintains compliance calendar to include required audits and training schedules
+ Participates in internal safety committee
+ Supports 1st and 2nd shifts (and potentially 3rd shift in the future) to maintain, implement, and coordinate safety programs, training, etc.
+ Responsible for purchasing safety equipment, first aid supplies, etc.
+ Supports explosive safety compliance requirements.
What you need
+ Associates degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Sciences (or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience of EH&S in a manufacturing setting or Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Sciences (or equivalent) and 1+ year of related experience
+ Intimate knowledge of OSHA regulations is preferred
+ Previous experience with program development and management, including: Powered Industrial Trucks, LOTO, Accident Reporting, Accident Investigation, Fire Safety, Fall Protection, and Electrical Safety is preferred
+ Experience with EHS internal auditing/corrective action development is preferred
+ Knowledge of OH worker’s compensation laws is preferred, but not required
+ Ability to work with various computer programs to manage data reporting & tracking
+ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Physical requirements:
+ Ability and flexibility to support a multiple shift manufacturing facility (5am-midnight) to maintain, implement, and coordinate safety programs, training, etc.
+ This position is a physically active role – must have the ability to climb ladders for roof access
+ Must be able to conduct daily and weekly audits walking and/or standing in facility up to 8 hours per day
+ Must be able to push and/or pull carts up to 50 lbs.
+ Must be willing and able to do other duties as assigned
+ Must be a U.S. Person (includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees) (required)
