Additional Information About the Role
**_Barnes-Jewish Hospital_** has an opening for an Operating Room/Patient Care Liaison. This position supports the OR and Sterile Processing unit. Ideal candidates will have experience in meeting scheduling and preparation and be comfortable with the MS Office Suite including EXCEL and Power Point.
+ 40 hours a week
+ Monday - Friday - 2pm-1030pm
+ Detail oriented
+ Preferred - CRST and CSI
The Operating Room Liaison responsibilities:
+ Advanced knowledge of surgical procedures and the ability to convert surgical schedules into instrument needs.
+ The ability to update the OR with SPD’s current instrument progress.
+ The ability to update both departments on supply, equipment, and instrument needs for surgical cases.
+ Understanding of the proper reasons for and proper method of performing and documenting Immediate Use Steam Sterilization (IUSS).
+ The ability to manage Case Cart delivery, Add-on pull status and instrumentation prioritization and distribution of instrumentation, to reduce IUSS and daily turnovers.
+ Management of the Peel-pack inventory and capacity to suggest additions and reductions to peel pack inventory based on demand.
+ Advanced knowledge and understanding of the principles of sepsis and a high confidence level for intraoperative support.
+ Early daily arrival prior to O.R. case start times to inspect readiness for first cases and to follow cases.
+ Propensity to self-manage time, personal needs and professional responsibilities in a manner that ensures the on-time completion of the Deliverables associated with this position.
+ Regular professional communication with the facility and Advantage Leadership
Overview
**Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital** offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.
Barnes-Jewish West County Central Sterile Processing Department provides a service that is an integral part of the quality of care that we provide for our patients. We ensure the integrity and sterility of our products and services for our customers. We control all parts of the sterilization process: decontamination, prep & pack, documentation of sterilization records, and sterile storage.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Serves as the primary contact and liaison between patient care areas, ancillary and support departments within the hospital. Interacts with all levels of management to coordinates business, administrative and non-patient care operational activities.
Responsibilities
+ Plans, develops, recommends and coordinates processes and strategies to identify revenue opportunities.
+ Collaborates with directors, managers and other disciplines to plan and implement projects related to patient care area.
+ Creates effective work plans and provides input to identify correct resources, processes and space needed for the assigned patient care areas.
+ Facilitates acquisition of supplies, equipment and services.
