Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is an integral team member in accounting.? They will own aspects of the close process including analyzing, validating/researching, and preparing financials.? This position will take more complex pieces of the close and work on special projects outside of close.
Duties/Responsibilities:?
+ Ensure that accounting functions and duties are accurately and timely completed in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulations.?
+ Responsible for areas of the general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement analysis, as well as research and successfully resolve reconciliation issues.?
+ Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.? Research and resolution of various general ledger reconciling items.?
+ Assist with financial analyses and preparation.? Analyze present and past operations trends and cost, validating reasonableness of estimates and interpreting accounts and records to upper management.?
+ Meet processing and reporting deadlines, including month end and year end close.?
+ Lead complex special projects as assigned.?
+ Respond to information requests, research, and interpret data, and answers accounting and financial questions.?
+ Perform day to day functional responsibility and/or conduct financial analysis to identify and evaluate risk and exposure.? Recommend appropriate action.?
+ Assist with annual financial audit, including working directly with the auditors to provide and explain supporting documentation.??
+ Develops spreadsheet reports, verify information, prepare journal entries, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.?

Skills/Abilities: ?
+ Good analytical skills and detail oriented; a quick learner?
+ Strong general ledger knowledge?
+ Proficiency in Excel required.??
+ Ability to learn and effectively use financial reporting program, Insight, to modify/create reports.?
+ Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with different departments and with various levels of company personnel; demonstrate initiative and is self-motivated; shows a willingness to work individually and as a team to help others when needed.?
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to concisely communicate project status and key issues for management attention.?
+ Manufacturing/cost accounting experience is a plus.
+ Knowledge of GAAP, general accounting practices and procedures, and financial reporting.?

Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics is preferred.?
+ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.? Experience with ERP systems, JD Edwards experience a plus?
