The Forklift Operator operates powered Lift Truck equipment to load, unload and move products, materials, and equipment. They will be a fully participating and effective member of a fast-paced, team environment responsible for delivering World Class results in the key areas of Quality, Safety, Customer Service and Cost.
Job Title: Forklift Operator / Material Handler
Pay Range: $24.25/hr - $25.50/hr
Shifts Available:
Sun-Thurs 10:00pm - 6:00am
or
Fri-Sat 10:00pm - 10:00am
What’s the Job?
Responsibility:
+ Assist in taking inventory and prepare orders for shipment as needed
+ Transport unfinished and finished product throughout the plant and supply the production lines with raw materials
+ Ensuring waste is discarded appropriately (trash, recycling and creating bails of material)
TECHNICAL & OPERATIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Receiving: Unloads trucks, trailers, or other vehicles and moves merchandise to the appropriate areas.
• Shipping: Loads finished goods from Production area to appropriate trailers for shipment.
• Material Handling: Relocate material within the warehouse from one location to other locations as necessary and moves all necessary components, etc., from storage to production activities as needed.
• Prepares and fills out necessary documentation on all receiving forms, shipping documents and production tallies as needed.
• Regularly operates the following equipment: personal computer and printer, bar code scanner, telephone and fax, and copier.
• Handle the movement of pallets on and off trailers, racks, and other locations by using site equipment (i.e. stand up and sit-down forklift, pallet jacks and clamp equipment) within the site.
• Has knowledge of personal computers used in the warehouse area for producing bar-code labels, inventory information and receiving & shipping paperwork.
• Operates bar-coding equipment to move and locate material in all areas of the plant.
• Operates hand or power-driven trucks for receiving, shipping and production coverage activities.
• Operates scales and stretch wrap equipment necessary for distribution activities.
• Maintains department good housekeeping and safety standards.
• Follows all applicable waste and scrap reduction, recycling guidelines.
• Hazardous Waste Operation (HAZWOPER) training and certification may be required (provided by company).
• Adhere to daily production schedule and prioritize job duties ensuring assignments are completed
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
+ Attention to detail with a focus on food safety
+ General computer skills (word, excel, etc)
+ Knowledgeable in SOP’s and Job Aid’s
+ Self-motivated
+ Follow GMP, policies precisely and accurately
+ Neat, legible, and timely documentation skills
+ Able to lift minimum of 50 lbs
+ Ability to stand for 10 hours or more per day
QUALITY:
• Understands and is accountable for following: all Quality, GMP, and cleaning standards and guidelines.
• Follows current work instruction and ensures adherence to the Quality Control Plan and related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Performs Statistical Process Control Charting and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Performs and practices good Housekeeping.
• Adhere to ISO internal management system.
TEAMWORK:
• Trains new hires and temps as needed.
• Works effectively in a team-based work environment.
Safety:
+ Hard hat, Hair/Beard net, gown, Plant approved boots, safety glasses and hearing protection are required. Other safety equipment required on an as needed basis.
Work Environment:
+ Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands:
+ Job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The ability to lift 50 pounds is required. The work requires regular standing, moving about, and involves a variety of physical activities.
