    Duties Description This position reports to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and the Associate Provost and is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases, ensuring data integrity, and creating automated reporting systems. The incumbent will manage data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, develop predictive models and statistical analyses, and create data dashboards and visualizations. Additionally, the Institutional Research Analyst and Programmer (IR Analyst/Programmer) implements and integrates data management software and provides technical support and training to staff. The IR Analyst/Programmer's role assists in accreditation reporting, and collaborating with various departments to meet data needs, utilizing highly technical skills in data management, programming, and systems integration.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this essential functions and responsibilities listing is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this position. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this listing.Data Management and ReportingDesign, develop, and maintain databases for storing institutional data (e.g., student enrollment, course offerings, graduation rates).Ensure data integrity and consistency across various reporting systems for data-informed decision-making.Create automated systems for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.Design and develop data dashboards and visualizations for faculty, administrators, and institutional planning.Data AnalysisAnalyze large datasets to support institutional assessment, planning, and decision-making.Provide statistical analyses and predictive modeling to inform strategic decisions, such as enrollment forecasting, student retention, and program evaluation.Support faculty and staff in interpreting data and translating it into actionable insights.System Integration and SupportImplement and manage software applications used for data collection, analysis, and for external and internal reporting.Ensure seamless integration of various data systems (e.g., learning management systems, student information systems, assessment, accreditation and strategic planning system) with the IR office's data warehouse.Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to institutional data management tools (SPOL).Technical Support and DocumentationProvide technical support to other departments in accessing and interpreting institutional data for assessment and accreditation reporting and data-informed decision-making.Document data workflows, procedures, and analysis techniques to ensure reproducibility and transparency.Compliance and Accreditation ReportingSupport the preparation of data required for accreditation reports, including compliance with federal, state, and institutional standards.Maintain systems and reports to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for data management and reporting.Collaboration and ConsultationWork closely with other departments, such as academic affairs, admissions, and finance, to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights.Collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to assess program effectiveness through data analysis.Data Visualization and CommunicationDevelop and present data visualizations, including graphs, charts, and reports, that communicate research findings effectively to various stakeholders.Assist in writing reports and briefing materials for institutional leadership, board members, and external audiences.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science.Experience in a data analysis or programming role.Experience in generating reports and providing data insights to support decision-making processes.Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Java.Experience with data management systems (e.g., SQL databases, relational databases, data warehousing).Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical software (e.g., Excel).Strong experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.System integration and troubleshooting of data-related software applications.Attention to detail and to maintain data integrity across multiple systems.Ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.Presentation skills for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science.Previous experience in a data analysis or programming role, preferably within an academic or institutional research setting.Familiarity with higher education data and accreditation reporting.Knowledge of data integration techniques to connect Student Information Systems (Banner), Learning Management Systems (Brightspace), Assessment Platforms (SPOL, Watermark, Qualtrics) etc.
