    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Automotive Recon Painter to support our used vehicle reconditioning operation. This role focuses on producing consistent, high-quality paint finishes on pre-owned vehicles in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strong productivity and safe work practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Perform reconditioning paint work on used vehicles including spot repairs, panels, and overall refinish as needed

    + Complete surface preparation: sanding, feather-edging, priming, sealing, masking, and final wipe-down

    + Mix and apply paint using proper techniques for color match, blend, and finish quality

    + Operate and maintain spray equipment, paint systems, and booth procedures

    + Work with team members on repair planning and production flow to meet recon timelines

    + Identify defects and perform corrections: runs, dirt nibs, orange peel, fisheyes, etc.

    + Follow all OSHA, PPE, hazardous materials, and paint manufacturer guidelines

    + Maintain a clean, organized workspace (5S mindset) and protect customer/dealership property

    + Document work performed and communicate job status clearly

    Qualifications / Requirements

    + 2+ years of automotive painting experience (recon/production experience strongly preferred)

    + Strong understanding of prep, masking, blending, and color match

    + Ability to meet production targets without sacrificing quality

    + Familiarity with common paint systems (e.g., PPG, Axalta, BASF, Sherwin—preferred)

    + Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

    + Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in a shop environment

    Preferred (Nice to Have)

    + Experience in a high-volume used car recon setting

    + ASE or I-CAR training (or willingness to obtain)

    + Experience with waterborne paint systems and compliant booth operations

    Demonstrable knowledge of body repair methods. Collision Center repair training or commensurate experience. Ability to operate equipment necessary to perform Collision Center repair functions. Previous experience in Collision Center Paint. Ability to operate equipment to perform painting functions.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    • Valid Driver’s License

    o Automobile Salesperson License

    Computer Skills:

    Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system.

    Communication Skills:

    Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

    Attendance Expectations:

    The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.

    Environment Demands:

    Duties are performed primarily in the body repair shop. Work includes movement of vehicle body parts, working in various physical positions, the safe operation of power tools, frequent movement around vehicles in order to apply paint to various vehicle body parts. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, paint-dust, paint fumes, and other body repair shop conditions.

    Verbal and Writing Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.
