Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic’s Strategy Department is seeking a Strategy Manager with AI and advanced analytics expertise to serve as an internal consultant, thought partner, and trusted advisor to senior leaders. This role would serve as team leader for Mayo Clinic’s Internal Strategy Consulting Team and focuses on helping leaders understand, prioritize, and act on opportunities enabled by artificial intelligence and data-driven capabilities.
The Strategy Manager will bring strong strategic judgment, analytical rigor, and AI fluency, enabling effective collaboration with technical experts while translating implications for non-technical clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders. This is a manager-level individual contributor role and is not an engineering, product, or people management position.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a strategic advisor on AI and analytics-enabled opportunities across clinical, operational, research, and administrative domains.
• Translate complex concepts related to data architecture, machine learning, and AI into clear strategic insights to support executive decision-making.
• Support enterprise strategy development by assessing where AI can create differentiated value, improve performance, or accelerate strategic priorities.
• Provide an informed perspective on the AI market landscape, including major technology platforms, emerging vendors, partnership models, and ecosystem trends relevant to healthcare.
• Partner closely with colleagues across Strategy, IT, data science, clinical leadership, and operations to provide advice on strategic direction.
• Apply structured problem-solving and analytical approaches to ambiguous, high-impact questions, producing clear and compelling executive communications.
• Contribute to building AI fluency and strategic alignment across Mayo Clinic by serving as a credible, trusted internal resource.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of healthcare experience with focus on strategy, client services, engineering, project management or operations or a Master's degree with 4 years experience. Three years of people leadership experience preferred.
Desired experience across the following areas of expertise: business and management consulting, people leadership, operational analysis, process engineering, leadership and project management of broad-based key institutional initiatives. Demonstration of strong management skills including strategy and visioning, change management, resource management, and sound judgment are required. Demonstrated use of management principles of delegation, organization and execution to maximize the value of projects and initiatives is also essential. This position requires broad-based human resource management experience and knowledge in hiring, performance management, team building, recognition, and staff development. Excellent interpersonal skills to include presentation, negotiation, persuasion, team facilitation, and written communications skills are required. Superior project management experience, knowledge and skills must be demonstrated. Incumbent must have the ability to independently manage a varied workload of projects with multiple priorities. Demonstrates professional continuous learning and functional area expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working at the intersection of strategy, technology, and healthcare, including exposure to large, complex organizations.
• Familiarity with the AI vendor and platform ecosystem, including how organizations evaluate, partner, and scale external capabilities.
• Background in or exposure to advanced analytics, digital transformation, or data-driven decision support.
• Graduate degree (e.g., MBA, MS) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in management consulting, internal strategy development, analytics strategy, or a closely related field.
• Strong conceptual and technical understanding of AI, machine learning, and data architecture, sufficient to engage deeply with technical experts and translate implications for non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to frame complex problems, synthesize insights, and communicate effectively with senior leaders.
• Experience developing executive-quality presentations and narratives (e.g., PowerPoint) to support strategic discussions.
• Proven ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.

Compensation Detail
$138,257.60 - $200,512.00/ year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
