Job Title: Substation DesignerJob Description

Support the development of high voltage substations projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This role involves physical design and drafting to develop and revise physical substation drawings, including general arrangement plans and elevations, equipment layout and orientation, bus configurations and conductor routing, grounding plans and details, lightning protection layouts, and cable trench, conduit, and raceway layouts. The position requires producing detailed sections, bill of materials, and construction-ready drawing packages.

Responsibilities

+ Develop and revise physical substation drawings for high voltage substations.

+ Create general arrangement plans and elevations.

+ Layout equipment and orientation accurately.

+ Design bus configurations and conductor routing.

+ Plan and detail grounding and lightning protection layouts.

+ Design cable trench, conduit, and raceway layouts.

+ Produce detailed sections, bill of materials, and construction-ready drawing packages.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of physical substation design experience.

+ Knowledge of power transformers, circuit breakers, bus configurations.

+ 2+ years of experience working on the consultant side.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.

+ Experience with electrical and physical design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate's Degree (preferred).

+ 4+ years of design experience; an additional year in drafting is acceptable.

+ Familiarity with power delivery systems.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position. However, if you are located near a project site, there may be requests for site visits. Joining this fast-growing substation team offers ample opportunities for career advancement, with the chance to support a large IOU that spans multiple states.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Homestead, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
